THERE’S 12 DiSC PERSONALITY TYPES!

Having a strong awareness of your own behavioural tendencies, as well as understanding the behavioural preferences of those around you, allows you to engage in effective communication and build productive relationships with those around you. In a workplace environment, this is the key differentiator between efficient teams and average or even dysfunctional teams.

DiSC profile results outline key behavioural preferences in individuals that reflect how they will most likely approach both their work and their personal relationships. Broadly speaking, these can be broken down into four key areas:

Dominance — Direct, strong-willed, and forceful

Influence — Sociable, talkative, and lively

Steadiness — Gentle, even-tempered and happy to accommodate the needs of others. The DiSC personality profile tends to work at a steady pace and cooperates well in a team environment.

Conscientiousness — Analytically minded, logical and private. This personality will tackle their duties at a moderate pace, paying close attention to details as they go.

However, people are complex, and as such, most people are actually a blend of multiple styles. This is where the 12 DiSC personality types come into play — providing personalised and highly relevant insights into how people will approach situations and relationships.

The DiSC assessment personality types

Within DiSC, there are 12 different DiSC Styles. While it’s important to remember that everyone is unique and will have their own individual twist on how their DiSC style is conveyed; understanding these personality types can also provide key insights into developing yourself and others

How can DiSC benefit my business?

Employees who have undertaken the DiSC profile will have a better understanding of their own work habits, and how to best maximise these — as well as develop better ways to work with other coworkers, particularly those they may not have seen eye-to-eye with before.

Importantly, DiSC profile results aren’t about pigeonholing people into pre-set boxes, nor about establishing some types as “better” than others. Rather, the assessment is about helping your staff build better interpersonal relationships, and in turn a better workplace culture. DiSC profiles are intended to enhance both a person’s self-awareness and awareness of others around them, which aids in a variety of soft skills when engaging with fellow staff and external customers and suppliers.
